You can learn 2 popular Japanese dishes at the same time. One is sushi, the other one is Okonomiyaki. There are many kinds of sushi in Japan not only Nigiri or Rolls, and you can learn easy but delicious homemade sushi in the class. Okonomiyaki which is savory pancakes is well known local food in Osaka. We also make Tofu salad for side dish.

Okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake, made with flour, eggs, shredded cabbage, meat and toppings as you like. This variability is reflected in the dish's name: "okonomi" literally means "to one's liking". You can eat it everywhere in Japan, but especially Okonomiyaki made Hiroshima style and Osaka style are the most famous.
We make sushi and Okonomiyaki from scratch.
Pressed Sush is a type of sushi made by pressing sushi rice with various toppings into a mold. We make it with grounded chicken teriyaki taste called Soboro and shredded omelet for toppings. Temari Sushi is cute sushi balls with smoked salmon & avocado, slices of cucumbers & tuna mayonnaise.
Okonomiyaki consists of batter, chopped cabbage and selected ingredients. it's fun to cook with an electric griddle on the table.
You can also eat delicious Tofu which is the specialty in Kyoto.
We offer you Taiyaki, fish shaped waffle for dessert.
Our private kitchen is not big but we welcome you with much hospitality.
I'm Yukari living in Kyoto, working as a food writer for over 10 years. Through my work, I truly realized good aspects of Japanese cuisine such as abundant fresh seasonal ingredients, beautiful presentation, well-balanced menus, and a wide variety of regional food behind its culture for more than a thousand years. Not only writing a cover story about food but also love cooking so I started offering a cooking class for foreigners an understanding of Japanese food lot more than Sushi and Ramen. I hope participants to enjoy Japanese home-style cooking you will never have in restaurants.
After lunch, you can go to sightseeing Shisendo, Manshuin, Ginkakuji, Nanzenji near my flat. I can advise you about nice spots for sightseeing or restaurants in Kyoto.
