Teriyaki is getting more and more popular all over the world but have you eaten a Japanese original teriyaki?
Japanese original teriyaki is different from teriyaki you always eat.
We can cook the Japanese-style original teriyaki together and I can teach you the Emi’s original special Teriyaki sauce, which is very popular from foreign travelers.
Emi’s teriyaki sauce is not too sweet and super delicious !
You can learn the recipe at this cooking session and cook for your family and friends after you go back!
Emi is passionate about cooking traditional Japanese home-style dishes.
After years of learning from three renowned chefs, she became a culinary expert who can prepare almost any authentic Japanese dish or Washoku.
She recently decided to run her own cooking class to share her passion for food and Tokyo life with fellow foodies.
A Tokyo native, Emi enjoys meeting travelers and learning about other cultures.
She adores food from every corner of the globe but is also passionate about Japanese cuisine and teas, in addition to cats, photography and hiking!
She has a deep interest in nutrition science and values using the freshest, top quality ingredients. Your healthy and well seasoned meal is guaranteed to be fresh.
She serves her meals on fine dining tableware, cutlery and utensils, so have your cameras ready for a fun photo journey of Japanese cuisine.
A group with more than 7 people needs to be booked hopefully three weeks before, at least one week before the experience
Take the Hachiko exit out of Shibuya station. Cross the famous Shibuya crosswalk, go straight until you see a large store called 'MODI'. Take a left at the store and keep walking until you pass the Disney store, MUJI and a cafe called 'Cafe Miyama' on your left. My cooking studio is in the building called 'Yamate Mansion' which is adjacent to the cafe. Go through the automatic door and take the elevator to the 9th floor, #906. You will see a signboard saying 'Emi's kitchen' on the door.

Meeting location: Meet Emi at Nerima station and then walk for 10 mins from the station to her home. Emi will meet you at the exit of the station, she will be holding a signboard ‘Emi's kitchen’. Please note that Nerima has two stations - one station (Oedo line) has 1 exit and the other one (Seibu-Ikebukuro, Yurakucho and Fuku-toshin lines) has 2 exits (she will meet at the bigger exit). Please let Emi know in advance which line you will use, so that she will know which exit to meet you at. Or please let her know where you’re staying, so that she can suggest the best route. Please call Emi on 81 (0) 80 9809 2650 once you exit the station and are unable to find her.

Our experience was a great success and I would rate it 5.
Our cooking class took place in Shibuya in a street easy to access. Our menu consisted of spinach with sesame, rice, teriyaki chicken and miso soup. Although it all sound very simple there is an art to it and we both learned some useful tricks for future dishes. We had a great time chatting while preparing simple yummy food that we will definitely be able to make again at home. Our host was interesting and kind. We discussed her city as she is a Tokyo native. We shared food stories of different countries and had a great time. We thank her very much for her time and wish her all the best future guests.
The course was extremely pleasant and clear to understand. It was just the two of us with Emi, so we had the chance to help in preparing almost everything. Emi was a genuine, enjoyable chef and we also had time to talk together and learn something about Japanese habits.
The food was great and, in addition to Teriyaki Chicken, we also learnt to cook Miso soup.
